Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Taha Subhan ("I", "me", "my") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information through my website (the "Website") and my café coffee consultation services. I follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, provincial privacy law.
1. Information I collect
Information you give me
When you submit the "Let's Talk About Your Café" form, I collect:
- Contact details: first name, last name, email address and phone number.
- Café details: the city, province and country where you plan to open, your café's stage, size, planned seating and expected daily foot traffic.
- Coffee program: the types of coffee you plan to serve, the number of drinks, and whether you have a roaster in mind (and its name).
- Equipment and budget: any espresso machine you're considering, the number of group heads, and your approximate equipment budget.
- Your message: anything you choose to write about your café.
Only your name, email, phone, city and province are required. Everything else is optional.
I also collect any information you share with me by email, phone or video call during a consultation.
Information collected automatically
- Ad and referral information. If you arrive from an ad or a link, the web address may include campaign tags (
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_term,utm_content) and Google click IDs (gclid,gbraid,wbraid). The Website saves these tags in your browser's local storage for up to 90 days, and sends them with your form along with the page you landed on, the referring site, and the date and time of your submission. I use this only to understand which ads and pages bring in consultation requests. - Technical information. Like most websites, my hosting provider automatically receives technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver and secure the Website.
- Spam protection. Form submissions are screened for spam. This can involve checking the submission content and technical details such as your IP address.
Cookies and tracking
The Website doesn't currently use analytics or advertising cookies. The only data it stores in your browser is the campaign information described above. If I add analytics or ad conversion tracking in the future, such as Google Ads, I'll update this policy first.
The Website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles this.
2. How I use your information
I use your information to:
- review your consultation request and contact you about it;
- prepare for and carry out your consultation, including recommending equipment and sourcing options;
- follow up on questions or next steps you've asked about;
- keep a record of our conversations and any work we agree on;
- understand which ads and pages bring in requests, so I can improve my advertising;
- protect the Website and form from spam and abuse;
- meet legal and record-keeping obligations.
I don't sell your personal information. I don't send you marketing emails unless you've agreed to receive them, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time.
3. Consent
By submitting the consultation form, you consent to my collecting and using your information as described in this policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me. If you do, I may not be able to continue helping with your consultation.
4. Who I share information with
I share personal information only as needed to run the Website and provide my services:
- Service providers. My website host and form processor (Netlify, Inc.) stores form submissions and sends them to me. My email provider handles messages between us. These providers may only use your information to provide their services to me.
- Suppliers, only when you ask. If you ask me to get a quote or check availability with a supplier, I'll share only the details needed for that request.
- Legal reasons. I may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect my rights or the safety of others.
- Business changes. If my consultation business is transferred to someone else, your information may be transferred as part of it, subject to this policy.
5. Where your information is stored
Some of my service providers, including Netlify, store and process data outside Canada, mainly in the United States. While it's there, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of that country under its laws.
6. How long I keep information
I keep consultation requests and related notes for up to 24 months after our last contact. After that, I delete or anonymize them, unless we're still working together or I need to keep them longer for legal or tax reasons. Campaign information stored in your browser expires after 90 days, and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
7. How I protect your information
The Website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Form submissions are stored with a reputable hosting provider, and I limit access to my own accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, I'll notify you and report it as the law requires.
8. Your rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what personal information I hold about you and how I've used it;
- correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your information, where I'm not required to keep it;
- stop using your information for a particular purpose, or stop contacting you.
To make a request, email me at the address below. I'll respond within 30 days. I may need to confirm your identity first.
If you live in Quebec, you also have the rights provided under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.
If you're not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
9. Children
My services are for businesses and adults planning a café. The Website isn't intended for anyone under 18, and I don't knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the Website with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, I'll make that clear on the Website.
