You don't need to have everything figured out.

Not sure what espresso machine you need? Not sure how many group heads? Don't have a roaster yet? That's completely fine. Tell me what you're planning and we'll figure it out together.

What is coffee consultation?

Planning the coffee side of your café before you spend on it

Your coffee program is everything that happens between the bag of beans and the cup you hand a customer: the menu, the equipment, the water, the workflow behind the bar and the roaster you buy from.

A coffee consultation is a conversation where we plan that program around your café. We look at the drinks you want to serve and how busy you expect to be, then work out what equipment actually fits. That way you don't overspend on a machine you don't need, or buy one that can't keep up on a busy morning.

You bring the idea. I bring years of experience with commercial coffee equipment and the brands behind it.

What I help with

From the first idea to the first shot pulled

Every café is different. Some people need help with one decision, others want a second opinion on the whole plan. These are the areas I cover.

  • Café concept & planning

Shaping the coffee side of your concept so it fits the space, the team and the customers you want.

  • Location & demographics

Thinking through foot traffic, peak hours and who's walking past, so your volume estimates are realistic.

  • Menu development

Choosing the drinks you'll serve and working out what each one asks of your equipment and staff.

  • Espresso machine selection

Matching group heads, boiler setup and features to your menu, volume and budget.

  • Grinder & brewing setup

Espresso and filter grinders, batch brewers and pour-over stations that suit how you'll serve.

  • Water filtration & plumbing

Filtration to protect your equipment and your coffee, and the plumbing and drainage questions to raise early.

  • Coffee & roaster selection

What to look for in a roaster, and how your coffee choice ties into your menu and equipment.

  • Equipment sourcing

Finding the right equipment in Canada and the sourcing and purchasing options that make sense for you.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. The first consultation is free and there's no obligation. You won't be asked to pay or commit to anything to talk through your café plans.

What if I don't know which espresso machine or how many group heads I need?

That's completely fine, and it's one of the most common reasons people reach out. Choose "Not sure yet" on the form. We'll work it out together based on your menu and how busy you expect to be.

Do I need to have a budget figured out?

No. A rough range helps me point you in the right direction, but the budget question is optional. Many people use the consultation to understand what a realistic budget looks like.

Do I have to buy equipment through you?

No. The consultation is about helping you make good decisions. If you'd like help sourcing equipment afterwards, I can help you explore the options available in Canada, but that's your call.

Do you work with cafés outside Toronto?

Yes. I'm based in Toronto and work with café owners across Canada. We can talk by phone or video call.

I already run a café. Can you still help?

Yes. Whether you're expanding, renovating, replacing equipment or rethinking your menu, choose "Existing café" or "Expanding / renovating" on the form and tell me what's going on.

What happens after I submit the form?

I read every request myself. I'll review your details and contact you by phone or email to set up a conversation at a time that works for you.

Your café deserves a coffee program
that's planned, not guessed.

Tell me what you're planning. You don't need the technical answers yet. We'll figure them out together.
